A very rare and unique plant that I grew out from one stem several years ago. Ever since I have have several populations growing, and am one of the only people in the U.S. who still grow it. It’s shape/size/color changes frequently and is a bit peculiar. Color over the years has varied between green, pink, purple, red, brown, copper and everywhere in between. Usually it has a leaf shape reasonably similar to the picture with a brick reddish color. Sometimes more slender and elongated, sometimes more short and wide.

It has grown very well for me low tech, and does not seem picky about lighting. I typically use it in the midground of the aquarium, although I have successfully used it as a carpet and in the background. Relatively slow growing compared to a lot of Hygrophila species. Creeps horizontally in high lighting.
