Why Do Aquariums Need an Air Pump?

An air pump plays a vital role in an aquarium by increasing oxygen levels and promoting water circulation. It pushes air through tubing into air stones or filters, creating bubbles that enhance gas exchange (oxygen in, carbon dioxide out).

This helps fish breathe better, beneficial bacteria thrive, and prevents stagnant areas in the tank.

It’s also commonly used to power sponge filters, air-driven decorations, and protein skimmers, keeping the aquarium healthy and lively.

Warm Tips:

  1. The pump is NOT SUBMERSIBLE, please do not put it into the aquarium. Keep it dry.
  2. Clean air tubes and stones regularly for best airflow and longer lifespan.
  3. Connect up to 4 devices max; water depth ≤ 5 ft.
  4. Without a check valve, the air pump should be placed above the water level.
  5. When a check valve is installed (ensure correct direction), the pump can be positioned below the water surface or on a tabletop to prevent backflow.

Use a T-connector to combine both outlets into one tube if only one device needs air, leaving one outlet unused may increase noise levels.

This is a very nice air pump from FZONE. One of its standout features is the adjustable flow valve, which allows you to easily control the amount of aeration in your tank. Even at maximum power, the flow remains strong and effective while the pump stays fairly quiet. The build quality is very sturdy, and since I have been using FZONE products for years, I definitely trust this pump for long-term reliability. It feels like a high-quality piece of equipment that is built to last. The only minor drawback is that there isn't a way to turn off the air flow completely via the control valve; you currently have to disconnect the power or the tubing to stop it. However, given its performance and durability, this is still an excellent air pump at a competitive price.

Perfect air pump. Comes with air tubing, air stones, and check valves. I use this for sponge filters for two tanks side by side. Also added a splitter on one side to power flow for blackworm culture. Perfect for what it is.

Pump is large but packs a punch! Dual output with adjustability with the turn of a simple knob allows you to tone down or turn up the bubbles according to your need. I have it running 2 separate tanks currently and turned way down but still lots of bubbles and water movement! Awesome pump for the money.
